Sara provides strategic leadership and operational management for EVP Sam Mar and the Communications and External Affairs teams. In this role, she supports Arnold Ventures’ relationship and engagement with key policymakers and other external stakeholders; storytelling and editorial operations; and communications; all to drive policy change invested in evidence-based solutions to maximize opportunity and minimize injustice.
Sara began her career at the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, where she created and launched NOLAready, the city’s centralized crisis communications systems. Prior to Arnold Ventures, Sara worked at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Department of Justice, and as chief of staff to civic philanthropists and in family offices.
She is a former Public Interest Technology Fellow at New America; Democracy Fellow at the Berggruen Institute; Fellow the Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation; a City of New Orleans Outstanding Employee Award recipient; and was named to The Gambit’s New Orleans 30 under 30. Her writing and ghostwriting has been featured in The Washington Post, New York Times, Fast Company, Forbes, Slate, USA Today, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Los Angeles Times. She volunteers at Good Samaritan, with the American Library Association, and as a Spanish translator.
A Texan by blood and New Orleanian by choice, Sara is taking on the challenge of figuring out how to both live in Houston and bicycle to work.
