Chris Chen
Chris Chen oversees Arnold Ventures' mission-aligned investments, which seek to use tools such as equity, debt, and guarantees to improve broken systems related to the organization’s core issue areas.
Chris is responsible for identifying, executing, and managing investments that align with the values and mission of Arnold Ventures: improving the lives of American families, strengthening their communities, and promoting their economic opportunity. He brings more than a decade of experience in evaluating and structuring private equity and venture capital investments.
Prior to joining Arnold Ventures, Chris was a partner at the Gates Foundation’s Strategic Investment Fund, where he focused on early-stage biotechnology investments. Before joining the Gates Foundation, Chris served as vice president on Bain Capital’s private equity investment team, investing in health care and industrial services.
Chris holds a master’s degree of business administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in Ethics, Politics, and Economics from Yale University.
