Director of Litigation Strategy
Nicole helps identify, analyze, and pursue high-leverage philanthropic opportunities in criminal justice litigation.
Before joining Arnold Ventures, Nicole held numerous criminal justice litigation and policy positions. She worked as a prosecutor in the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice. In that role, she focused on police misconduct and federal hate crime prosecutions. She also worked as a legislative and policy counsel in the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice. As a legislative and policy counsel, she managed a broad criminal justice portfolio, including initiatives to promote policing reform, combat the criminalization of poverty, and improve reentry outcomes. Prior to her tenure at the Department of Justice, Nicole served as a state public defender.
Nicole worked as a counsel at Protect Democracy, where she was responsible for identifying emerging threats to our democracy and deploying creative uses of varied legal tools to combat democratic decline. Earlier in her career, she served as a Skadden Fellow at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and as a judicial clerk for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama.
Nicole holds a B.A. from Brown University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
