Next week, hundreds of thousands of college seniors will have to make their decisions about where to pursue a higher education. As they make this investment of time and money — likely one of the most important, expensive investments of their lives — they will be doing so based on incomplete or unavailable data. All students deserve real transparency about college costs, graduation rates, and the returns they can expect to see when they enter the labor market. That is why the College Transparency Act is so important. This bipartisan, bicameral bill will help ensure students and families have the information necessary to make the best decisions possible. AV applauds the leaders who are cosponsoring the College Transparency Act, including Sens. Bill Cassidy (R‑LA), Elizabeth Warren (D‑MA), Roger Marshall (R‑KS), Sheldon Whitehouse (D‑RI), Chuck Grassley (R‑IA), and John Hickenlooper (D‑CO) and Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D‑IL), Joe Wilson (R‑SC), Suzanne Bonamici (D‑OR), Nancy Mace (R‑S.C.), and Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) for introducing this common-sense legislation. We encourage Congress to pass it immediately.
