Position Overview

Arnold Ventures’ Public Finance team seeks to advance tax and budget policies that will promote fiscal stability for governments – with a focus on the Federal government – and economic opportunity, mobility, and security for all. Our investments seek to fund and support critical research, on-the-ground policy efforts, and technical assistance. 

We are seeking a Public Finance Analyst to provide analytical and operational support to the Public Finance team. This individual will work closely with team members on substantive, policy-oriented projects and gain experience in supporting the development and management of high-impact philanthropic projects on public finance issues. This position will be based in our Washington, DC office and report to the Director of Public Finance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical and operational support for the team’s funding initiatives, including active collaboration with team members on grants management and team process management
  • Conduct research/​analysis of public finance programs and policies, and help develop projects and policy recommendations based on such analysis
  • Support tracking, analyzing, and summarizing policy developments, external events, and research and policy papers related to the team’s focus areas
  • Compose, fact-check, and/​or edit presentation slides, policy papers, website content, and other written materials
  • Actively contribute to team meetings regarding projects, including suggesting ideas and brainstorming
  • Coordinate and actively contribute to meetings on evidence-based reform with partners and stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, and others

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 1 – 2 years of experience in a related field preferred, including part-time work or internships in positions involving policy reform and/​or research
  • Exceptional listening and communication skills, including the ability to absorb, analyze, and convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner verbally and in writing 
  • Experience managing and completing complex projects with careful attention to detail
  • Demonstrated skill in analysis, critical thinking, and problem solving
  • Strong command of modern technology (MS Office, Google Workspace, Calendly, Zoom, etc.)

The salary range for this position will be $75,000-$90,000.
