Manager, Digital and Social Media
New York, Houston, or Washington, D.C. Posted: 09.22.2026
Arnold Ventures (AV) is a philanthropy that supports research to understand the root causes of America’s most persistent and pressing problems, as well as evidence-based solutions to address them. By focusing on systemic change, AV is working to improve the lives of American families, strengthen their communities, and promote their economic opportunity.
Position Overview
The Manager, Digital and Social Media will help to define AV’s external social presence, translating complex policy research into compelling, timely content that reaches the policymakers, journalists, and advocates who can act on it. The Manager will help design and execute AV’s content strategy across X, LinkedIn, and other priority channels, support AV principals and subject-matter experts in developing an authentic digital voice, and build AI-enabled workflows to support working in a fast-paced environment.
This position will report to the Director, Digital Strategy and will work closely with Communications team members across AV’s offices. The position will be based in AV’s New York, Houston, or Washington, D.C. office.
Core Responsibilities
Social Content Strategy and Execution
Build and maintain an editorial calendar across X, LinkedIn, and emerging channels, tied to organizational priorities, policy cycles, and issue moments.
Draft and publish clear, evidence-grounded posts that translate complex policy positions and research findings into accessible, shareable content.
Adapt longform assets such as reports, op-eds, event remarks, and press coverage into channel-native derivatives, so that a single research report yields a thread, a LinkedIn article, a set of quote cards, and a newsletter input.
Monitor conversations across channels and engage constructively on AV’s behalf.
Identify opportunities to engage and shape policy conversations and proactively provide recommendations to the relevant team leads for timely engagement.
Partner with the media and advocacy teams to turn real-time developments, including policy announcements, legislative votes, and media hits, into timely social content.
Track narrative shifts, polarization trends, and emerging issue conversations, and proactively surface opportunities to the team.
Help measure performance on AV’s social channels, using data to refine our digital presence over time and working closely with the Manager, Web and Analytics on informing the measurement strategy.
Principal and Expert Amplification
Help AV thought leaders build their social presence where it advances organizational goals, helping high-profile and subject matter experts find an authentic digital voice.
Develop social-ready commentary, threads, and bylines that appeal to policy experts, journalists, and other opinion leaders.
Build a lightweight approval workflow for principal content, using AI to generate draft options from talking points, speeches, and interview transcripts that principals can review and approve quickly.
AI-Enabled Workflows and Team Acceleration
Build and document AI-powered workflows that compress multi-step content processes, such as turning daily media monitoring from Penta and Clipbook into draft social commentary, generating first-pass rapid-response copy from alerts, and assembling weekly performance snapshots from vendor-provided data.
Create resources and templates that the broader Communications team can use without deep AI expertise, including prompt libraries, content kits, channel-specific formatting guides, and distribution checklists.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
At least 5 years of experience in social content, digital communications, or content marketing, including at least 2 years integrating AI tools into daily production work.
Strong writing and editing skills, with a portfolio that demonstrates range across formats, audiences, and voices.
Experience owning social content end to end, including editorial calendar, creation, publishing, community management, and performance analysis.
Working knowledge of social analytics and monitoring tools, and the judgment to translate what they show into content decisions. Experience with SEO, web analytics (GA4), or email marketing tools (Mailchimp) is preferred.
Proficiency with AI tools and workflow automation platforms as a core part of your production process.
Comfort operating in advocacy and policy environments, with experience in or around federal, state, or local policy preferred.
High tolerance for ambiguity and comfort working in a dynamic, initiative-based environment with shifting priorities and cross-team collaboration.
The salary range for this position will be $105,000 — $140,000.
