Daniel Palken

Director of Infrastructure for Energy and Permitting

Daniel is the Director of Infrastructure for Energy and Permitting at Arnold Ventures. In this role, he works to address barriers to achieving a lower cost, more reliable, and more sustainable American energy system.

Prior to his current role, Daniel worked for over four years in the U.S. Senate, most recently as a Professional Staff Member for the Committee on Energy & Natural Resources primarily covering electric sector issues. Previously, Daniel was Senior Policy Advisor to Senator Hickenlooper of Colorado for energy, climate, and minerals issues. In these roles, he negotiated high-profile, bipartisan permitting reform and electric transmission legislation, provided analytical and policy advice, and performed a broad range of legislative tasks.

Daniel completed his M.S. and Ph.D. in physics from the University of Colorado Boulder, where he applied quantum measurement and Bayesian statistical techniques to dark matter detection. He received his B.A. in physics and English from Bowdoin College.
