Public Finance Manager
Matthew manages the public finance portfolio at Arnold Ventures. He develops projects to improve retirement security and promote the effective funding and financing of public programs. Before Arnold Ventures, he worked for The Pew Charitable Trusts, where he researched the intersection of state and local fiscal policy, particularly the ways that states and local governments manage fiscal distress. He also provided technical assistance to states on how to create systems to assess the fiscal condition of local governments.
Matthew has previously worked for government, nonprofit, and private entities in a variety of roles, including positions with the Maryland House of Delegates and SRI International. He also spent time in Japan with the JET Program working for a local school district to promote grassroots international exchange.
Matthew received his master’s in public policy from Georgetown University and bachelor’s in psychology, classics and humanities from Valparaiso University.
