Director of Strategic Communications
Ashley directs communications strategies for our core verticals of criminal justice, health, higher education, and public finance. Prior to joining Arnold Ventures, Ashley taught English at Southern Methodist University (SMU) while completing her Ph.D. in English. She is a scholar of twentieth and twenty-first century American fiction, futurity, philosophy of language, and philosophy of mind, and has published on emerging notions of political agency in Margaret Atwood and Bruno Latour. Ashley also received her Certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies and served as an SMU Fellow for a seminar on contemporary philosophies of mind.
Before earning her Ph.D., she worked for Warner Bros. in Burbank, California, where she managed content and social media strategy for TheWB.com, and Clear Ink, a digital marketing agency in Berkeley, California. She graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor’s degree in English, creative writing, and art history.
